Moved to Antepartum

Now that I've been deemed "stable" I'm moved to Antepartum. I'm not hooked up to monitors all the time and I get to eat food and drink, not just from an IV! I'm still on bed rest and will be until Skipper comes. But, the bed here on the 7th floor is heaven compared to downstairs in Labor & Delivery.

Getting a shower was so welcome, but nothing more soothing than the decision by the doctors to actually consider me stable enough to move upstairs for hopefully the long haul! Reports on Skipper's development could not be more helpful to hear.

No one can predict when this baby will make her debut, but the risk of starting contractions now that I've made it past the 48 hour mark of water breaking are low. We believe I will be here in Antepartum for at least a couple weeks. HOPEFULLY I will make it to 34 weeks with baby still in the womb. Likely, I will be induced at 34 weeks, which is the time deemed to be best for baby to finish developing in the NICU rather than my womb with limited fluids.

Here is the amazing thing... the baby is getting more fluid regularly as I'm making more for her. The fluid lost is gone and will not be returned and there is no way to "patch-up" the womb to hold in the new fluid. I am encouraged from a friend who spent 62 days here in Antepartum in a similar situation... her daughter is thriving! Thank you, Sara, for your support too!

I am grateful to be in the best place for this... Duke Hospital! We are lucky to live so close. The doctors and nurses have been wonderful.
