Cora certainly made Christmas eventful. As we mark her 4 weeks of life, and 1 month tomorrow, I am reminded of the roller coaster ride that we are living, currently. We expected that she would respond really quickly to the blood transfusion, but her distended belly and low energy, along with a unexplained/concerning area on a belly X-Ray caused more questions. She was started on antibiotics and her head IV remained and her feeds continued to be with-held. She was also given a little suction in her belly to take out any potential bile that might be backing-up...
Not the Christmas report we were hoping for. Needless to say, it put a major damper on our Christmas dinner. BUT...
Today, after a couple calls and no calls-back, we finally got a GREAT report! Dr. Goldberg (attending physician) was super happy with the results of this AM's belly X-Ray. She kept moving those bowels and increased her energy and there was no bile backing up in her belly! So, the decision was made to start her back up on her feeds and she's responding well respiratorily too!!
WHEW! Another potential bullet avoided, with little explaination. This roller coaster is the scariest I've ever ridden before.

Great news! Brian gave me a little update which only brought up more questions. Hope everyone is feeling better....sigh of relief.
