Overwhelmed

Yesterday, I arrived at the NICU right when a new Attending Physician (3-week rotation) was doing rounds and I listened in on his update/recommendations about Cora. This experience was extremely overwhelming, since I am not familiar with all the medical jargon, I'm left with my own interpretations/imagination about what everything meant. Yesterday's visit was not an experience I want to rehash, here.

Today's visit, thank goodness, was much more encouraging! She responded well to a couple medicines that the new Attending Physician, Dr. Greenburg, recommended: increased urine output and gaining some weight! We had a good long Kangaroo, which seemed much more restful to her and she significantly decreased her "Brady's" and her pulse-oxygen "de-sats." SIGH of relief!! All of this behavior has postponed a potential blood transfusion, though I am preparing myself for that in the future, as it appears to be a standard therapy for Preemies of Cora's gestational age.

I was able to employ the relaxation therapies that I learned in a much more therapeutic way today. Breathing is important to both Cora and me!!
