It Was a Good Day!

"Cora" means heart... you'll be seeing lots of hearts moving forward!

We are celebrating a full-week (plus a couple days, but who's counting?) of really positive progress!
  • Cora reached her birth weight last night!! (This is a feat that Stella B didn't achieve until week 2 of life.)
  • She has also had a few dirty diapers and we are seeing improved results regarding the urine sugar levels.
  • Brain ultrasound revealed no brain trauma!
  • Cora was off the ventilator in less than 48 hours of life - this is just awesome.
I told the nurses today that I had been feeling a little overwhelmed from all the resources that I'd been reading. They promised me (and I believe them) that they would not tell me that she's doing great, if she wasn't (instead they would be preparing me for what's to come). They have not said that we will not have any set-backs, but reassured me that she really is doing awesome for her gestational age and  I'm starting to look forward to the future with our family of 4! Duke's NICU is full of miracle workers and I've been reassured that they have healthy 25 weekers leaving all the time. I CANNOT WAIT for that day - we will have to prepare for a true celebratory homecoming! BUT, it will be a long, scary road from now until then. But, I do plan to ride the good waves, as long as possible!!
